Single Vision lenses are exactly what the name states – SINGLE VISION.  In other words, a single vision lens has only one field of vision unlike a bifocal or mulitfocal lens which have two or three.

Single vision lenses can be used for either distance, intermediate or near (reading), however, not all at the same time.

Many low prescription single vision lenses can be purchased at drug stores for less than ten dollars versus higher prescription single vision lenses that must be fabricated in a laboratory once purchased in an eyewear retail outlet, online or doctor’s office.
